BIGFOOT SPOTTED IN PATAGONIA?
By Hilde Kate Lysiak
A local man believes the legendary big foot might be on the lose in Patagonia — and claims to have seen the beast with his own eyes!
Jon Larsen told the OSN that he spotted the Arizona Sasquatch, or as locals have dubbed it, the “Mogollon Monster,” several times and in several places all across town.
“I have seen brown, black and red (Sasquatches.) People have even seen a blonde one in Patagonia,” Jon Larsen told the Orange Street News.
When asked why most people don’t believe in the large ape like creature, Larson said that people just are not open to it.
“I think it is because most people don’t look, they put there blinders on. They wouldn’t believe what they saw if they saw one, they will think they just saw a man in the distance,” said Larson.
Asked why he never took a picture of one, Larson claimed he didn’t want the attention.
“I have had lots of chances to take pictures, but I would of had people and media swarming around my door to see big foot, and I don’t want that. I am kind of a private guy,” he added.
The oldest known documented sighting of the Mogollon Monster was reported in a 1903 edition of The Arizona Republican, in which I.W. Stevens described a creature seen near the Grand Canyon as having “long white hair and matted beard that reached to his knees. It wore no clothing, and upon his talon-like fingers were claws at least two inches long.”
In 1958, Andrew Genzoli of the Humboldt Times wrote an article on strange foot steps that were found in Northern California, and joked about it being a relative of the Abominable Snowman.
The Arizona Game and Fish Department does not investigate Bigfoot sightings. Neither does the State Veterinarian’s office, a division of the Arizona Department of Health
